Terms of Use
By downloading or using Helios, you agree to these terms and to the Apple standard licence agreement below.
The licence
Helios is licensed, not sold, to you. Your licence is Apple’s Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement, the standard agreement that applies to apps from the App Store. These terms govern the Helios service itself; where the two disagree, Apple’s agreement controls for the app on your iPhone. The app links to this page from the sign-in screen, the subscription screen, and Settings.
What Helios is, and is not
Helios is a companion. It keeps a person company, remembers medicines and appointments, asks how the day is going, and offers a second opinion on a message that looks like a scam.
Helios is not a doctor, a medical device, a care service, a therapist, or an emergency service. Nothing it says is medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Do not use it to decide whether to take, stop, or change a medicine. Talk to a doctor or pharmacist about health and medicines. Helios does not monitor anyone and cannot summon help on its own.
In an emergency, call local emergency services. In the United States, call 911. For suicide or crisis support, call or text 988.
The subscription
Helios is an auto-renewing subscription, sold through the App Store.
- Helios monthly costs $14.99 per month.
- Helios yearly costs $119.99 per year.
- Both begin with a 3-day free trial. Nothing is charged during the trial.
Prices are in US dollars and may differ in other regions; the price you will be charged is always shown on the subscription screen before you buy.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when the trial ends or the purchase is confirmed. The subscription renews automatically at the same price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time in the App Store: open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap Helios, then Cancel Subscription. There are full instructions on the Support page.
Cancelling during the free trial means you are never charged. Cancelling later stops the next renewal; Helios keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription, and deleting your Helios account does not cancel it either.
Unused time in a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription, where that applies. Apple handles all billing, so refunds are requested from Apple rather than from us.
Your account
Signing in with Apple or Google lets your subscription and what Helios knows about you follow you to a new phone. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account.
You can delete your account, and everything in it, from Settings in the app. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Using Helios fairly
Do not use Helios to break the law, to harass anyone, to impersonate someone, to defraud someone, to interfere with the service, to get around its security, or to submit content you have no right to use. We may restrict or suspend an account where that is reasonably necessary to protect people, protect the service, or follow the law.
Voice copies
Helios can speak in a copy of a familiar voice. Only make or upload one when the person whose voice it is has knowingly agreed to that particular use. Never use a voice copy to impersonate, deceive, exploit, or harm anyone.
You can remove a voice copy at any time in Settings. Deleting your Helios account also asks the voice provider to delete the copies held for it.
What you give Helios
What you tell Helios stays yours. You give us, and the services listed below, permission to handle it only as far as is needed to run, secure, personalize, and support Helios — exactly as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for having the right to share what you share.
What Helios says
Helios replies are generated by an artificial-intelligence service and can be wrong, out of date, or incomplete. Check anything that matters — especially about health, money, or safety — before acting on it. The scam check is a second opinion, not a guarantee, and it can miss a real scam or flag a genuine message.
Services Helios relies on
Helios depends on Apple, and uses sign-in, cloud, speech, artificial-intelligence, memory, and weather services run by other companies. They are named in the Privacy Policy. Their availability can change, and their own terms may apply to you when you use them through Helios.
Weather
Apple Weather supplies the forecast Helios reads out. Apple requires this to be said plainly:
YOUR USE OF THIS REAL TIME WEATHER GUIDANCE APPLICATION OR WEBSITE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. WEATHER DATA MAY NOT BE ACCURATE.
Do not use Helios weather to make an emergency or life-saving decision.
Availability
We aim to keep Helios running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Features may change as the app improves. If we ever discontinue Helios, we will say so and stop billing.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Helios is provided as it is, without implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss arising from its use. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights as a consumer. Some places do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Changes and questions
These terms may change as Helios changes; the updated date above will change with them. Write to grao@heliosmobile.app and a person will answer.
